The Dell MessageOne Managed Services Platform

On-premise software solutions provide a level of integration with enterprise systems that most on-demand services cannot attain. Integration with directory services, authentication services, and storage systems are often possible. However, on-premise solutions… are on-site. They are susceptible to local infrastructure outages, configuration errors, and require substantial maintenance from IT staff including patch management, upgrades, server capacity management, index maintenance, etc.

EMS and AlertFind® are on-demand services built on the Dell MessageOne Managed Services Platform that provides the maintenance free benefits of on-demand services with the integration capabilities of on-premise software.

The Managed Services Platform consists of minimal client side software installed at your site and at the Dell MessageOne global network of top-tier disaster recovery centers. Linux®-based, this architecture is immune to the viruses and malware that plague Windows based systems. By hosting off-site, Dell MessageOne services are not dependent on local servers, infrastructure or staff to eliminate the many risks of on-premise enterprise solutions. By installing minimal client side software, directory, authentication and storage management systems can be securely synchronized with the Dell MessageOne global datacenters as needed to eliminate system complexity and management headaches.

Here are a few of the many benefits provided by the Managed Services Platform:

  • Single-day, non-intrusive deployment more

On-premise and alternate solutions require considerable up-front planning, are intrusive in nature and often require many hours of professional services before becoming fully operational. Many require substantially reconfiguring the existing environment, re-architecting the server topology, adding a VPN or inducing security holes. Dell MessageOne on-demand solutions are quick and easy to implement. Deployment time is measured in hours – not weeks or months.

  • Zero maintenance with automated updates more

The operation and maintenance requirements of alternative systems can be substantial. With the need to manage patches, servers, licenses, storage capacity, memory indexes, user capacity, disaster recovery, high availability (HA) and complex backups on multiple, non-integrated solutions, staffing costs can outweigh all other system costs combined. With Dell MessageOne on-demand services, very little software or hardware is deployed on-site and the burden of maintaining the system is shifted to Dell MessageOne.

  • Integration with your platform to reduce administration more

Unlike pure on-demand services, the Dell MessageOne Managed Service Platform synchronizes with enterprise systems to ensure that user information is always accurate and up-to-date and administration burdens are minimized. EMS integrates with Exchange, Active Directory®, Windows Authorization®, Outlook® and Lotus Notes® to provide a seamless experience for end-users, and centralized control and automated user synchronization for administrators. AlertFind is designed to directly import information from a wide variety of directory, HR, and administrative systems to ensure that contact information is always accurate and up-to-date.

  • Start small and grow as much as needed more

Alternative systems often require substantial modifications as needs change and business grows; servers must be bought, software implemented, capacity managed, architecture re-engineered. Dell MessageOne services allow you to start small and change plans as needed. With little or no upfront expense and low monthly rates, on-demand services make financial sense in changing environments.

  • Eliminate the hidden costs of downtime and data loss more

Dell MessageOne services have inherent disaster recovery and high availability. Maintaining an outage-free environment for your users can save millions when the costs of lost productivity, out of compliance data retention, litigation risk, and the ability to quickly return to normal operations after a crisis are considered.

  • Scalable to any size organization more

When mail volume grows and on-premise systems can no longer keep up, servers, storage, bandwidth and complimentary high-availability and backup solutions must be purchased and integrated into the existing environment. With Dell MessageOne on-demand services, scalability is no longer an internal problem and services can be expanded as your needs change. EMS can provide virtually infinite mailboxes for any number of users. AlertFind can be implemented for even the largest of organizations. Dell MessageOne provides enterprise-class scalability, security, data encryption, authentication, and integration with a wide variety of enterprise applications.

  • Store Once, Use Everywhere architecture reduces complexity for all EMS services more

On-site and poorly integrated email management systems store multiple copies of messages in separate systems for primary storage, disaster recovery, backup, archiving, Legal Holds or high-availability use. Storage costs are driven higher and dueling retention policies and compliance issues place an increased burden on management resources. The Dell MessageOne integrated services with single-instance storage are securely located off-site and greatly simplify in-house operations, enabling organizations to install less complex architectures and significantly reduce backup procedures.

  • Cost-effective, easy to understand pricing more

The cost to deploy and maintain Dell MessageOne on-demand services are fully known upfront, requiring little or no initial investment, and have predictable monthly costs. The burden of maintaining and expanding the system as your needs grow is shifted to Dell MessageOne. Dell MessageOne on-demand services are priced like insurance and achieve the lowest total cost of ownership.

The architecture has redundant, load-balanced servers for high availability performance. All access is logged for reporting purposes. Customers are encouraged to discuss these and the multitude of additional security controls provided by Dell MessageOne with your sales representatives.
