- Seamless 60-Second BlackBerry Continuity – Activate in less than 60 seconds to provide any employee with full BlackBerry access during an email outage. EMS ensures that email never bounces and that email system outages are never evident to the outside world.

How EMS provides BlackBerry device continuity
The EMS Wireless Extension is a Linux®-based standby email system that is automatically synchronized with your primary Microsoft Exchange email environment. Whenever problems occur in your Exchange or Notes® environment, EMS can quickly be activated over the web or by phone. In less than one minute, the EMS BlackBerry client will be activated on the devices of all affected users, allowing them to continue to send and receive email over their BlackBerry devices from their corporate email address without interruption.
Companies that use Microsoft Exchange and BlackBerry services are essentially running two separate but fully synchronized mail systems. When Exchange or Active Directory® goes down, BlackBerry services stop functioning and users are unable to send or receive email on their BlackBerry devices. EMS Email Continuity for BlackBerry Devices is the first service to break the dependency on Microsoft Exchange, essentially allowing organizations to quickly “failover” email services to BlackBerry when Exchange goes down, leveraging the RIM network as a backup mail system for wireless users during any outage.

EMS includes all of the key features of the primary email system including contact lists, calendar appointments, distribution lists, and access to historical email.
Lotus Notes - Activation takes less than a minute, enabling employees to have direct access to a fully functional Web-based email system that allows users to send and receive email from their standard corporate email address. EMS includes all of the key features of the primary email system including: the directory, contact lists, calendar appointments, distribution lists, and important historical email. BlackBerry users will be able to send and receive messages using their normal corporate email addresses. In fact, the outside world will have no idea that you are operating on a backup email system.
