How it Works – Email Management Services™
The EMS Email Continuity™ service synchronizes email, contacts, calendars, distribution lists, and your global address list to the Dell MessageOne™ datacenter network. Messages are stored for continuity use as a standby email system in case of a primary system outage. With EMS Enterprise Archive™ and EMS Rapid Archive™, messages are archived according to your organizations retention policies and become a long-term archive for compliance and legal discovery. EMS Email Security™ automatically filters email at the perimeter for spam, viruses and malware.
Built on the Dell MessageOne Managed Services Platform™, EMS provides rapid deployment and low total cost of ownership while meeting the broadest enterprise requirements for scalability, security, integration, and data privacy.
Independently the EMS products represent best-in-class products with the lowest total cost of ownership, but when used together EMS eliminates all the risks of managing email. When combined these services have a common architecture, a centralized control and administration system, they integrate with corporate systems to reduce maintenance and they have a common data store to reduce storage and bandwidth costs.
EMS Email Continuity service – In the event of an outage of the primary mail system, EMS Email Continuity will queue mail at the Dell MessageOne datacenter and attempt to redeliver it until the primary system comes back online. When EMS Email Continuity is activated, users have to access their backup mailboxes. Activation can take place globally or for subsets of users, servers, or locations as needed. EMS Email Continuity can be activated in under a minute via the web or an authenticated phone call to enable your organization to:

EMS Enterprise Archive service – Securely store email and attachments for historical archiving with complete control over retention and deletion policies, Legal Holds, compliance, storage management and e-Discovery and without the risks of data loss or downtime.
EMS securely stores a single copy of each message according to granular retention policies for use in archiving, legal discovery, compliance and storage management and optionally for email continuity. While EMS Enterprise Archive is often installed as a stand-alone product, combining archiving and EMS Email Continuity for disaster recovery unifies disaster recovery (DR) and archiving storage and management. This provides an accurate, tamper-proof, policy compliant archive without the costs and complexity of dueling retention policies, duplicate storage costs, and multiple high availability (HA) solutions required for separate systems.
