MessageOne Announces Its Sponsorship Of Disaster Planning Workshop For Louisiana Businesses
MessageOne Maintained Email for More than 200,000 Users During Hurricane Katrina
Austin, TX – March 2, 2006 – MessageOne, the fastest growing business continuity company, announced its sponsorship of the “Business Continuity and Disaster Planning Workshop,” hosted by the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce and the SCIA (South Central Industrial Association) in Louisiana on March 8th and 9th.
“From the two devastating hurricanes, our local business community learned that although we thought we were prepared, we really were not,” said Kandy Theriot, President of the Houma- Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce. “Thanks to the support of MessageOne and our other sponsors, we are offering this Disaster Recovery workshop to help our local businesses create a Disaster Recovery Plan – that could literally save their businesses in the future.”
The educational workshop, presented by Eagle Rock Alliance, will teach local businesses about critical disaster recovery concepts. Each participant will receive a Disaster Recovery Preparedness Manual that can be customized for their business, with each workshop limited to 20 attendees. It will help attendees prepare for these situations:
- What if you lost all of your data? What critical files could your business not live without?
- Could you put people back to work fast enough if your regular offices were not available?
- What if you lost all your inventory?
- Are you ready to switch operations to another location?
- How many people can you do without for short periods of time?
- Can you re-establish your computer power and telecommunications that your workers need before you lose customers, lose credibility, incur legal sanction or lose profits?
“With hurricane season only four months away, it is important for businesses to be prepared with a business continuity and disaster recovery plan to enable them to continue to operate through a disaster,” said Mike Rosenfelt, Executive Vice President for MessageOne. “During last year’s hurricane season, we maintained email communications for more than two hundred thousand users and their businesses which allowed them to communicate quickly with their employees during that emergency, with our EMS and AlertFind services.”
